Christa's journey into Structured Literacy began when she watched her own child transform through Orton-Gillingham instruction.

Christa completed Classroom Educator and Associate-Level Training through the Orton-Gillingham Academy (A/OGA), an International Dyslexia Association-accredited training organization.

My name is Christa Lawson, and I have a passion for supporting students using the Orton-Gillingham approach. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management with a focus on Non-Profit Management.

My journey began when my child was struggling, and I realized the school system was not identifying or supporting his needs. I met Bethany Kulig when our children attended school together, and I knew she was very knowledgeable about dyslexia and was a leader in the Dyslexia-Literacy Collaborative in Florida. Bethany offered to tutor my son after she completed her Orton-Gillingham training. I watched my child go from struggling to write his alphabet to writing an expressive and succinct essay in cursive within one year. I watched his confidence grow, and reading and writing finally made sense to him.

After witnessing this incredible transformation, I made the decision to invest in the training myself. I have since completed 30 hours of Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator training and 30 hours of Associate-level training. Every child is capable of greatness, and I have observed the transformation of my students. As a parent of three children, I cannot express enough how important it is to use a structured literacy approach to build both foundational and advanced literacy skills for all children.
